From Our President
As the President of the Childhood Cancer Foundation Inc of Volusia County, I am honored to welcome you to our virtual home. In the face of adversity, our mission stands strong: to support families navigating the challenging journey of childhood cancer by alleviating some of the burden of non-medical bills, offering comfort to families, and creating experiences that allow child, parent, and siblings a sense of normalcy and camaraderie.
At the Childhood Cancer Foundation, we believe that no family should face this battle alone. Our supporters, donors, and volunteers create the lifeline for those facing unimaginable challenges.
Explore our website to learn more about our mission, the families we serve, and the ways you can get involved. Your support, whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, is instrumental in helping us make a difference in the lives of these brave children and their families.
Thank you for joining us in the fight against childhood cancer. Together, we can be a beacon of hope for those who need it most.

Board Member
Loren Hoyt
My name is Loren Hoyt, and I’ve proudly called DeLand home since 1980, after moving from the Boston area. DeLand is where I grew up, graduating from DeLand High, and it’s where my children have also graduated, making me a passionate member of this community.
I’ve always believed in giving back, and I’ve served on the board of directors for the DeLand and Greater West Volusia Chamber of Commerce and am a passionate member of the Junior Service League of DeLand. For the past 22 years, I’ve worked at DaVita Labs in DeLand.
This charity is incredibly close to my heart, as my goddaughter and niece is a childhood cancer survivor. She battled neuroblastoma and, thankfully, lives right here in our DeLand community. Seeing the strength she and our family have shown through this journey has made me a fierce advocate for children and families facing this diagnosis. It’s an honor to be a part of a foundation that provides such vital support.

Board Member
Courtney Weeks
Born and raised in DeLand, Courtney is now raising her three boys here with her husband, Wade.
Her passion for giving back began early, serving as a camp counselor for ten summers at Camp Happy Days, a pediatric oncology camp in Charleston. She later worked with the AdventHealth Foundation, gaining experience in donor relations and fundraising, and went on to serve as President of the Junior Service League of DeLand. Courtney is thrilled to join the team in 2025 and looks forward to partnering with the board and community to advance the mission of the Childhood Cancer Foundation.
“The mission of the Childhood Cancer Foundation is close to my heart—I’ve seen firsthand the courage of children facing cancer, and I know how vital this support is for families. I hate cancer, but I’m endlessly inspired by the kids who fight it.

Patient Liason
Cindy Whitaker
Cindy joined the CCF team in 2016 as the family liaison however she has been in this field for over 14 years. Growing up in Orlando Florida she made a move to Volusia County 13 years ago with her family husband, Dan; daughter, Amanda; and son, Danny. Danny is the reason they made the move, he was diagnosed in 2004 with stage 4 Medulloblastoma, brain cancer.
Having a child with cancer herself, Cindy has walked this journey and understands the needs of our families which makes for a perfect fit for our organization. Having this experience is invaluable when meeting, helping and navigating the families who are embarking on this journey. Cindy is the direct contact for social workers at the three Orlando hospitals serving our families. She can be found at Advent Health on Rollins, Arnold Plamer or Nemours meeting and taking care of our families; bringing meals, delivering gas or grocery cards, giving them rides to and from their appointments and sometimes just holding their hands.
